The silent are accomplices in the US show trial – long live President Saddam Hussein!
By Carsten Kofoed, Free Iraq Blog of Denmark, November 5, 2006 (excerpts from a longer article in Danish). Picture: Iraqi President Saddam Hussein telling the truth about the war and its objectives in an interview with Dan Rather from the US TV-station CBS on February 24, 2003, in Baghdad
Even though this whole “trial”
against President Saddam Hussein and his seven comrades is taking place as the
result of an illegal aggression violating the UN Charter, even though the
“court” does not meet the most basic demands in terms of competence,
independence and impartiality, even though “the judges” have been substituted at
the whim of the US, and even though witnesses of the defence and three defence
lawyers have been murdered in the course, this “trial of the millennium” has
been continuing, this rape and murder of justice and international law, without
any appreciable protests in the West.
Since the beginning of the show trial back in July 2004, have we then heard any
condemnations of this grotesque event from the UN General Secretary and the
so-called human rights organisations Amnesty International and Human Rights
Watch? Have we heard anything from those who are running around in Denmark
telling everybody that they respect international law, the Danish Red Cross and
its General Secretary, Mr. Joergen Poulsen? Have we heard anything from the
Danish mass media, from the writing hores calling themselves journalists, but
who neither can nor want to cover Iraq from both sides and present the views of
the Resistance, but are just dashing around as “embedded journalists” in Iraq
under the protection of the occupying power? Have we heard anything from the
Danish politicians who constantly talk about the UN and the need to respect
international law? And last but not least, have we heard anything from the
Danish anti-war movement, especially from those who because of their
parliamentary representation have had the best opportunities of all to express
themselves, to cause debate in Denmark and to influence international opinion?
Yes, indeed! The Socialist People’s Party (SF) and the Red Green Alliance
(Enhedslisten) have lost their tongues when it comes to the show trial. On the
other hand, they have not had any problems with screaming their heads off
denouncing Saddam Hussein and thereby politically supporting Fogh Rasmussen
(Danish Prime Minister, translator’s note) and the “showdown” of the occupying
power with independent Iraq.
This whole group of political forces have first and foremost been deserting the
Iraqi people by deserting its patriotic government, which was on our side, on
the side of the anti-war movement, on the side of peace and truth, when we were
protesting the war in February 2003. President Saddam Hussein, who has for two
decades been smeared by the very same forces, who organized the mendacious
campaign about Iraq’s fictive weapons of mass destruction and false connections
with terrorism, did everything he could in order to hinder the terrible war
claiming more than 665,000 dead Iraqis, thousands of Americans and six Danes
until now. He could not have done anything more because the aggression had
already been prepared and planned in The White House. It is the irony of the
fate that it is President Saddam Hussein who is now facing a death sentence, and
not Bush, Blair and Fogh Rasmussen, these international war criminals who laid
their respective countries into an illegal aggression and a bloody criminal
occupation. If just one hair of the heads of President Saddam Hussein and his
comrades is hurt, then we anti-war activists must declare that we will increase
tenfold our efforts to bring these Western mass murderers and war criminals to
justice.
The rotten opportunism arguing that the defence of President Saddam Hussein is
“a bad case” because of opportunism’s accept of the decade-long mendacious
campaigns of imperialism against President Saddam Hussein and the Baath Party, a
long and ideological preparation for the occupation under which Iraq is
currently subjugated, is not acceptable and no valid excuse. Demanding that the
illegal US-controlled show trial be stopped has never equalled supporting the
policies of President Saddam Hussein, but supporting international law, which
states that the ongoing “trial” is utterly illegal. It can only take place
because it is the US superpower and world dictator which is judge, prosecutor
and executioner.
The political forces, who, because
of reasons they only know themselves, have not expressed their unambiguous
condemnation of the show trial against President Saddam Hussein and his comrades
and demanded that this “trial” be stopped and “the accused” be released, are
accomplices in the show trial and its consequences for President Saddam Hussein,
his comrades and Iraq.
President Saddam Hussein did not lie to his people about the war and its
consequences. He predicted it all. Therefore, he and the Baath Party organised
the resistance struggle, which has now pushed the Western occupiers, oil robbers
and rape murderers into an acute crisis and brought liberation much closer.
Several times, the US has sent high officials to the detained President Saddam
Hussein, begging him to ask the Resistance to lay down its arms. He has refused
that and stated that it is Iraq, not Saddam Hussein that matters. On October 15,
President Saddam Hussein wrote in a letter to the Iraqi people that “Saddam
Hussein, as you know, will stay as you have always known him.”
Yes, indeed! President Saddam Hussein stood firm against the Western aggressors
and oil robbers, defending Iraq and the Iraqi people. He never surrendered, but
fought and is fighting against the brutal fascist occupation for the freedom and
independence of Iraq. So, just call me a Saddamist! It is an honour because this
term today agrees with freedom struggle, resistance, patriotism, defiance,
loyalty, self-sacrifice, social justice, anti-imperialism and anti-Zionism.
Therefore, on a day like this, there is only to say the following:
Freedom for President Saddam Hussein and his comrades!
Long live President Saddam Hussein, the symbol of free Iraq, of patriotism,
resistance to imperialism and Zionism, of honour and dignity!
Victory to the Iraqi people and its armed Resistance!
