A Babylonian Psalm And Prayer
A Babylonian psalm and prayer for wounded Iraq and for
Its jailed president Saddam Hussein
The most honorable and faithful of them all..
You who dwells in the shelter of the Most High,
And is glorified by the shadow of God.
You told the Lord your confidence
Your refuge is God, in whom we trust.
He will save you from the falling snare.
And from the vain word.
Through his wings he will save you
And under his arms you will find refuge.
As a weapon, he will surround you by his justice
You will not fear the terror of night.
Nor the arrow that flies by day.
Nor the word which walks in the darkness.
Nor the wind which rises in the midday.
A thousand may fall at your side.
Ten thousand at your right hand,
But they will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
And the punishement of the wicked you will see.
Because you Lord, is his refuge.
In the highest you made your dwelling place.
No harm will come near you
No plague will come near your tent.
For He will command his angels concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways;
They will take you in their hands,
So no stone will strike against your foot.
And you will tread on a serpent and a viper.
And you will trample on a dragon.
Because the Lord loves you, He will save you and will fortify you.
Because he knows your name, he calls upon you, and will answer you.
With him you are, in his trouble
He will fortify you and He will honor you.
For many days, he will satisfy you and show you his salvation.
Amen, amen, amen
